"It's not just a keel and a hull and a deck and sails, that's what a ship needs...but what a ship is. What the Black Pearl really is....is freedom." ~Jack Sparrow
--
My first airbrush of Jack Sparrow, which is really sad considering that he out ranks all of my other obsessions combined.
I was waiting for the opportune moment to airbrush him, to wait until I felt that my skill level was high enough and when I was feeling confident enough to tackle it. And, since I am no longer in High School, what better image to do as a final airbrush than Jack Sparrow.
I am extremely proud of this, and it many not look done, but me and my teacher decided that it was best that we kept it black and white. (My first Freddy Krueger airbrush all over again) It looks striking, and the high contrast and values really make him stand out. So hence, the black and white.
I can see already, that I can do a better job. It just goes to show you how quickly I pick up on things, and my constant struggle to improve my skills. This took me approx. 8-10 hours.
So...with all of that said, there's only one more thing to say. Please comment!
Nice work! I've done a Jack in graphite, and along with all my other drawings, my wife tells me it's great, but when can I start doing colour? I think there's nothing wrong with black and white, especially on a striking portrait like this. I've just got an airbrush myself, and if I can produce something like the work you have here, I'll be very happy.
To quote Governor Swann (though slightly different): "This looks absolutely stunning!" And I know! My Johnny Depp/Captain Jack/PotC obsession soars over all of my other ones, but I have yet to do any art for them! But anyway, the work is beautiful!!!!!!!
TEACH ME TO DRAW PLEASE.
Great job, as ever
This is Absolutely Gorgeous in Black and White!
I love the soft tones and great detail you have in Jack’s beads!
Beautiful – Beautiful – Beautiful!
Airbrushing is indeed your craft…
